Why Diabetic Footwear?
The Medicare Therapeutic Shoe Program was implemented in 1994. This program was created to reduce the incidence of diabetic foot ulceration and amputation by providing a team approach to care and by providing at risk patients with one pair of extra depth or custom molded shoes plus three pair of custom orthotics per year.
